Home Minister Amit Shah yesterday launched the Private Security Agency Licensing Portal at a function in New Delhi. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Shah said the portal will become functional in all official languages like Hindi, Gujarati, Telugu and Tamil within three months.
He said, the number of licensed agencies in the states will also be available on the portal so that people do not fall prey to the fraudulent private security agencies. The Home Minister said, this portal will also help the people cross check police verification of each and every security guard.
He expressed hope that the sector has the potential of providing
employment to at least two to three crore people. Mr Shah said, at present 90 per cent police stations are linked with computer an d people can check criminal records of security guard, if any to whom they are deploying. He said, there are a number of dimensions that can be added to the portal including training and other aspects to it.
The Home Minister said, this will give multidimensional speed to private security guards' sector. Mr Shah said that he will speak to all the state Chief Minister to run an awareness campaign among the people the they should believe in only licensed security agencies.
