Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be on a two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir from today. He will reach Srinagar in the afternoon. This is Mr Shah's first visit to the state after assuming charge as Home Ministry in the 2nd successive stint of BJP led NDA government at the Centre.
Mr Shah is scheduled to co-chair a meeting of Unified Headquarters with State Governor Satya Pal Malik. He would also review the developmental profile of the state.
During the two day stay, Mr Shah will review the overall security situation in the state, particularly in the Kashmir valley. He would also take stock
of the arrangements planned for the peaceful and smooth conduct of upcoming 46 days annual Amarnath Yatra beginning on July 01. Home Minister is scheduled to have a one-on-one meeting with Governor Satya Pal Malik at Raj Bhawan.
Mr Shah is also likely to address BJP workers and Panchayat members separately during this visit. In addition, he will also meet several delegations and likely to meet families of BJP workers who have been killed by the militants. Adequate security arrangements have been put in place in view of the visit of Union Home Minister.
