More than a month after, Honeypreet Insan, the adopted daughter of jailed godman Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, was finally taken into custody by the Haryana police.
She was handed over to the Haryana police by the Punjab police, according to multiple reports in the media.
Priyanka Taneja alias Honeypreet tops the list of 43 people 'wanted' by the Haryana police in connection with the incidents of violence that left at least 41 people dead and several injured following Ram Rahim's conviction.
The Delhi High Court had last week dismissed Honeypreet's transit anticipatory bail on the grounds that she had been evading arrest and hence was not entitled to any discretionary relief.
The 36-year-old, in an interview to a news channel earlier, said she was devastated by allegations
that, violence in Panchkula was incited by her.
Honey preet told a TV news channel that her "Papa" was innocent and that his conviction on August 25 in two rape cases has left her "depressed".
The Haryana Police had issued an arrest warrant against her for the violence in Panchkula.
She defended her father as saying that he was innocent. She also denied allegations raised by her estranged husband Vishwas Gupta that she was in illicit relationship with her father.
"I cannot understand how anyone can point fingers at pious relations that are there between a father and his daughter. What proof have these people got to level such allegations. All those who are spreading such rumours, please do not believe them," she told the channel interviewer.
