The overhead pedestrian bridge at the Bandra station, one of Mumbai's busiest, is engulfed in flames at rush hour after a fire erupted in a slum nearby.
16 fire engines and nearly as many water tankers are being used to fight the fire, which began at 3.45 pm in the Behrampada slum; the sky is filled with smoke
at Bandra, the trendy western suburb of the financial capital.
The skywalk near the eastern exit of the large station is on fire, a part of it has collapsed.
Trains have been stopped on the Andheri-Wadala stretch of the Harbour Line, one the city's three main local lines, because the fire is close to the tracks.
