Income Tax Department has attached benami assets of NCP leader Chhagan Bhujbal and his family worth 300 crore rupees. The Income Tax Department attached benami assets of NCP leader Chhagan Bhujbal and his family comprising one sugar mill along with 3 buildings in Maharashtra.
According to the department, the assets were allegedly created by Bhujbal; his son Pankaj and nephew Sameer using a maze of about four dozen shell
companies.The immovable assets attached under the order include Girna sugar mills in Nashik, Habib Manor and Fatima Manor buildings in Bandra West area in Mumbai and multi-storeyed residential building Solitaire in Mumbai's Santacruz West.
Maharashtra’s former deputy Chief Minister Chhagan Bhujbal and his nephew Sameer were arrested by ED last year and since then have been lodged in Mumbai’s Arthur Road jail.
