West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamata Banerjee on Friday said she would campaign for Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray and the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) in the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections.
Banerjee, who is in Mumbai for Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant's wedding, met with Thackeray and extended her full support to the MVA. Both leaders belong to the
Opposition's INDIA bloc. This meeting was their first since the Lok Sabha elections.
Addressing a joint press conference at Thackeray's residence earlier in the day, Banerjee emphasised their close relationship, describing it as brother and sister, and dismissed the political implications of their meeting.
Thackeray echoed her sentiment, saying no political discussions took place.
