New Delhi: Information and Broadcasting Ministry will celebrate Iconic Week from 23rd to 29th of August as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur will start off the grand celebration that will attract participation from across the country under the overall spirit of Jan Bhagidari and Jan Andolan. During the period, All India Radio News and its regional units will broadcast special weekly programmes like Dharohar, Nishaan and Aparajita.

Dharohar will broadcast speeches of freedom leaders while 75 landmark sites will be showcased in Nishaan. The programme namely Aparajita and the Unsung Heroes will also be broadcast. All India Radio’s daily capsule “Azadi Ka Safar, Akashvani Ke Saath” will be reaching schools and colleges across India through collaborative efforts of Directorate of Information and Public Relations of various States and regional offices of the Ministry. Regional News Units of AIR have been broadcasting five-minutes capsules on the day’s importance during the freedom struggle as part of celebration of Amrit Mahotsav themes. AIR is also running National and Regional Quizzes.

Screening of Iconic Films will be a special feature of the Iconic week celebration. DD Network will showcase a series of documentaries such as Netaji, Merger of princely states etc. Popular Indian films such as Razi will also be telecast. Directorate of Film Festivals is collaborating with the Ministry of External Affairs to screen films at various Embassies of other countries in India. Series of sectoral programmes will be mounted and



four episodes will be telecast during the Iconic Week. 

Special programming on DD India focusing on issues related to Diplomacy, Diaspora, Cinema, and India’s Outreach to the World will be telecast. During the week, news reports on Unsung Heros and champions of New India will be carried out besides special coverage of key initiatives and announcements by the government.

The Press Information Bureau PIB will launch Microsite on Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav while Bureau of Outreach and Communication, BOC will release E-book on Framing of the Constitution. The BOC  will also organized 75 stand-alone cultural programmes relating to Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. 

The performances will be focusing on inspiring stories of unsung heroes of freedom struggle, achievements of India in various sectors, awareness about COVID-19 vaccination and India’s achievements in Tokyo Olympics 2020. Song and Drama artists will perform nukkad nataks, skits, magic shows, puppetry and folk recitals which will disseminate the message of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav through E-Vans. The Publications Division will organize Online Quiz on Freedom struggle and Unsung heroes. Podcast series on books published by it on freedom struggle and the revolutionaries will be run. 

The National Film Archive of India will organize live Virtual Film Poster Exhibition on its website Films Division will also organize Online Film Festivals and Webinar on topic India@75: Technological Advancements in film making.
