In Bihar, a high-level Inter-Ministerial Central Team (IMCT) which reached on a three-day tour to the state yesterday visited flood-affected areas in Sitamarhi and Darbhanga districts. These two districts were mostly affected due to the recent floods and witnessed several damages in embankments.
The seven-member team led by Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs Parthsarthy visited two districts separately and got information from ground zero about the devastation of the flood. In Sitamarhi the team led by the Joint Secretary visited the site at Tilak Tajpur in Runnisaidpur block where the embankment was swept away in floods. They also received feedback
from local people.
After the visit, the Central team held discussions with Chief Secretary Amrit Lal Meena and other officials in Patna. During the high-level meeting officials of the Disaster Management Department, Water Resource Department, Agriculture Department, Rural Works Department and some others made presentations about the loss and damage due to flood.
The Disaster Management has demanded more than 3600 crore rupees from the Centre as an assistance. On the last day of the visit members of the IMCT will again hold discussions tomorrow with officials of different departments.
