The Met department has confirmed the onset of the monsoon in Kerala, a day earlier than the previous prediction. The state has been witnessing heavy pre-monsoon rainfall for the last few days. All 14 districts of the state are under alert. While Alappuzha, Kottayam and Ernakulam have orange alerts, all other districts remain under yellow alert.

As the rain continues, severe

waterlogging is being reported in many districts, including Thiruvananthapuram and Ernakulam. Relief camps have been opened in the affected areas. The state disaster management authorities had issued a warning of landslides in hilly regions. The water level continues to rise in major rivers. Fishermen have been asked not to venture into the sea.
