The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heat wave conditions to continue over Northwest India during the next 5 days.
According to the IMD, heat wave conditions will continue over West Madhya Pradesh, West Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and East Rajasthan till the 29th of this month. Similar conditions will prevail over Central and East India, including Uttar Pradesh, Vidarbha, Bihar, Odisha, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Gangetic West Bengal till the 26th of this month. Meanwhile, maximum temperatures are expected to gradually rise by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius over East
India till tomorrow and over Northwest India during the next 7 days.
The weather agency has also forecast very heavy rainfall over Arunachal Pradesh today, and heavy rainfall over parts of Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura during the next 3 to 4 days. In South India, light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorm, lightning, and gusty winds up to 50 kilometres per hour is likely over Karnataka, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, Kerala, Tamil Nadu. Puducherry and Karaikal during the next 6 days.
