IMD forecasts heavy rainfall for Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala, Karnataka, and Mahe over next few days

India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall over at isolated places over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, Karnataka and Mahe for the next two to three days. 

The weather agency also predicted that light to moderate rainfall is also likely over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Rayalaseema, Telangana, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, and Marathwada till today. According to the IMD, the above normal temperature tendency over Northwest India and parts of Central India is likely to continue during the next 2-3 days.

The weather office has also predicted that Delhi and NCR are likely to experience smog and shallow fog during the night and morning hours till 3rd November. The air quality in Delhi-NCR remained in a very poor



category. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi was reported at 359 this morning.

Several areas of national capital are witnessing a layer of smog engulfing the area as Diwali celebrations continue and firecrackers are being set off. As per the data of CPCB, the AQI of several parts of the city inched closer to ‘severe’ levels. Anand Vihar and RK Puram recorded AQI of 395, Burari Crossing recorded 394, Sonia Vihar’s AQI reached 392, Punjabi Bagh recorded an AQI of 391 and Rohini recorded AQI 385.

According to the forecast, the air quality in the city may reach the severe category today in case of additional emissions from firecrackers and stubble burning.
