The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that a low-pressure area is likely to form over the East Central Bay of Bengal and adjoining north Andaman Sea during the next 24 hours. It is also likely to move west-northwestward and intensify into a depression by Tuesday morning and into a cyclonic storm by Wednesday. Thereafter, it is very likely to move northwestwards and reach the northwest Bay of Bengal off the Odisha-West Bengal coasts by 24th October



morning. 

The IMD has advised the fishermen not to venture into the North Bay of Bengal and along and off Odisha, West Bengal, and Bangladesh coasts during the next four days.

The IMD has also forecast heavy rainfall over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, and South Interior Karnataka during the next three days. It has also predicted heavy rainfall over Karnataka and Madhya Maharashtra today.
