In Rajasthan, flood-like situations continue in Barmer, Jalore and Sirohi districts due to heavy rains inflicted by Cyclone Biparjoy. Extremely heavy rainfall has been recorded at several places of Jalore, Barmer, Sirohi and Pali districts in the last 48 hours, due to which normal life has been badly affected. Heavy rainfall has also been recorded in some other districts including Rajsamand and Udaipur. Three people have died in rain-related accidents so far.
The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for heavy rain with strong winds in Ajmer, Pali, Udaipur, Sirohi and Rajsamand districts even today.
More than 300
millimetres of rain has been received at many places in Jalore, Barmer, Sirohi and Pali districts in the last 48 hours. This is the reason why flood-like conditions have emerged in the desert. Three to four feet of water has accumulated in many towns and villages of Barmer, Pali and Jalore districts. Many dams are overflowing. Hundreds of trees and electric poles have been uprooted.
Due to which power supply has been affected in more than 500 villages. Many routes have been blocked. NDRF, SDRF and district administration are engaged in relief and rescue work in the affected areas.
