The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on July 28 said that thunderstorm accompanied by lightning is likely to occur at isolated places in Telangana till July 30. Meanwhile, light to moderate rain and thundershowers are very likely to occur in a few places in the state, over the next three days, IMD’s weather forecast predicted.
The IMD warned that rainwater may pool on roads in low-lying areas. The roads will be wet and slippery, it said, suggesting people restrict their movement.
The IMD also warned that on July 30, heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Telangana.
Mahesh Palawat, the head of Skymet, a private weather forecasting agency, said: “There will be good rain as the trough is extending from Bihar to
Telangana. Few intense spells will be there. From July 31, rain activity will decrease for two days. After the gap of two days, again on August 2 and August 3, there will be good rain. The wind will blow with a speed of less than 40 km for the next two days. This rain activity is because of Southwest monsoon.”
According to the Telangana State Development Planning Society, till 8:30 am on Tuesday, Pashamylaram of Sangareddy received 20 mm rainfall, the highest in the state.
The IMD’s weather inference for July 28 read, “The upper air cyclonic circulation over Southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining Andaman sea now lies over Southeast Bay of Bengal & adjoining Southwest Bay of Bengal and extends upto 5.8 km above mean sea-level tilting southwestwards with height.
