India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms over East and Central India for the next few days. According to the weather department, isolated to scattered moderate rainfall is very likely over Arunachal Pradesh and isolated light rainfall over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura from March 14 to 20.
Isolated light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning, and winds gusting up to 40 kmph is also likely over Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and East Madhya Pradesh till March 20. The IMD also forecasts scattered to fairly widespread rainfall with isolated thunderstorms, lightning, and winds gusting up to 40 kmph
over Gangetic West Bengal till the 19th of this month.
On hot and humid weather, the MET department has said that these conditions are likely to prevail over Kerala, Mahe, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal during the next 5 days. It also predicted heat wave conditions in isolated pockets of North Interior Karnataka for today.
Meanwhile, the IMD predicted a fall in maximum temperatures in the national capital today and a gradual rise thereafter. The maximum temperature in the city is likely to drop by 2-3 degrees Celsius today and is expected to rise to 32 degrees Celsius from March 19 onwards.
