India Meteorological India (IMD) has said the extremely heavy rainfall activity likely to continue over the isolated places of Coastal Karnataka, Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra and Gujarat today. In a statement the IMD said a cyclonic circulation is very likely to form over Westcentral and adjoining Northwest Bay of Bengal on today. It said under its influence a low pressure area is likely to form over the same region during the 24 hours which will bring heavy rainfall in isolated areas.
It said, from today and tomorrow, central Maharashtra will witness rainfall in seven districts including Palghar, Thane and Raigad. In view of this, IMD has also advised the people to avoid areas prone to water logging and to stay away from vulnerable structures.
The Weather agency also said Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Rayalaseema, Karnataka, Kerala and Mahe are also expected to get heavy showers tomorrow.
For central India, IMD said predicited isolated
heavy rainfall over Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh the region for next three days.
Towards northwest India, the IMD said the rainfall activity likely to increase over from tomorrow.
IMD also predicted heavy rainfall at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.
In a statement, the weather agency said this is because the active monsoon trough is running to the south of its normal position and the western end may shift gradually northwards during the next two-three days.
Earlier, the heavy downpour that caused floods in Delhi, Punjab and Haryana and landslides in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand disrupting normal life. For East and northeast India, IMD said it is unlikely to see significant rain in the coming five days, especially in the eastern parts of the country. The entire region is still 23 % rainfall deficit during 1 June to 23 July.
