India has again asked Pakistan for consular access to Kulbhushan Jadhav and Hamid Nehal Ansari. Jadhav was arrested in Pakistan on alleged espionage charges and Ansari was caught for illegally entering Pakistan from Afghanistan to meet a girl.
India's renewed call for consular access to the two came after it exchanged with Pakistan the lists of citizens including civil prisoners and fishermen in each other's jails as per provisions of the bilateral Consular Access agreement. The exchange of list is part of routine exercise done twice a year in

January and July.
External Affairs Ministry, in a press statement yesterday, reiterated its commitment to address the humanitarian matters, including those pertaining to prisoners and fishermen in each other's country. Both countries also exchanged the list of nuclear installations and facilities covered under the agreement on the Prohibition of Attack against Nuclear Installations. The agreement provides that the two countries inform each other of nuclear installations and facilities on the first of January every year.
