In Bihar’s Bhojpur, India broke Pakistan’s 18-year old world record of people waving a national flag. With over 78,000 Indians simultaneously waving the national flag at an event attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, India broke Pakistan’s record on Sunday.
On the 164th death anniversary of Veer Kunwar Singh, one of the heroes of the Revolt of 1857 against the British, an event was organised as part of 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav'.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah was joined by top BJP leaders from Bihar,
including Union ministers R K Singh and Nityanand Rai, Deputy Chief Ministers Tarkishor Prasad and Renu Devi and their predecessor Sushil Kumar Modi in waving the tricolour for full five minutes, as the national song 'Vande Mataram' played in the background.
Even before organising this program, the BJP had fixed the target that 75000 tricolors would be hoisted simultaneously in the presence of Amit Shah in this program. The previous world record was set by Pakistan in 2004, when 56,000 Pakistanis waved their national flag at a function in Lahore.
