A delegation of the I.N.D.I.A bloc parties approached the Election Commission and demanded the counting of the postal ballots and declaring their results first ahead of EVMs. The delegation including Congress leaders Abhishek Manu Singhvi, SP leader Ram Gopal Yadav, CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechury, CPI leader D. Raja and AAP leader Pankaj Gupta among others. 

Later talking to reporters in New Delhi, Abhishek Manu Singhvi said that it is very clearly stated in the statutory rule



about counting of postal ballots first. He added that this is reiterated in 2019 and other letters of Commission about which the delegation apprised the poll panel. 

Mr. Singhvi said that the Commission has changed this rule, which cannot be done by guideline and the statutory rule must be followed. He said, the delegation also demanded the Commission to direct the counting officials to follow the existing guideline.
