India-Japan joint naval exercise (Jimex 2018) will commence in Visakhapatnam from Monday. Jimex-18 aims to enhance interoperability, improve understanding and imbibe the best practices of each other’s navies. Being held after five years, it will run for eight days and consist of harbour and sea phases. Besides the Japanese defence ships, three Indian naval ships
will be participating, according to a statement from the Indian Navy’s Eastern Naval Command here.
The Indian ships participating would be under the command of Rear Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, Flag Officer Commanding, Eastern Fleet. The harbour phase of the exercise, will take place between October 7 to 10.
