Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla and Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Igor Morgulov held a telephonic conversation to exchange notes on the evolving situation relating to spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.
They recalled the telecon held between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Vladimir Putin on 25th March and welcomed the opportunity to continue the dialogue between the two sides. Mr Shringla and Mr Morgulov appreciated the close bilateral cooperation in ensuring the welfare of each other’s citizens in their respective countries . Mr Morgulov also thanked Mr Shringla
for facilitating the evacuation of Russia nationals.
Both sides decided to be in touch for monitoring and facilitating the emergent needs of medicines and equipment on both sides. Referring to Russian chairmanship of BRICS and Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, Mr Morgulov informed Mr Shringla of various preparatory meetings which would continue to take place through video conferencing in the coming days. Both sides decided to remain in close touch with regard to current Covid-19 situation as well as bilateral and multilateral matters.
