India to hold more than 200 events for 2023 G20 summit

India will assume the G20 Presidency from December 1, 2022 for a one-year period. As the nation ramps up its preparation to hold the summit in 2023, government sources told India Today that India will organise more than 200 events spread across major cities, including Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata, Mumbai, etc, as part of the summit.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the logo, theme and website of the 2023 G20 summit on November 8. The upcoming summit will be the highest-profile international gathering ever to be hosted by India.

According to government sources, the main summit will likely be held in October-November 2023 in Delhi. The list of invitees will include the 20 permanent G20 members, other invitees and around 10 to 12 world bodies. These include the United Nations (UN), the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the World Trade



Organisation, the World Health Organisation (WHO), etc.

The leaders of permanent invitee countries including Singapore, Spain, Netherlands, Bangladesh and Egypt will also attend the summit.

Sessions like T-20 summit, think tank summit, W-20 women's summit and Y-20 youth summit are among the 200 events that will be held as part of the G20 summit. These seminars and meetings will focus on health, labour, finance, environment, education, renewable energy, climate change, the pandemic and other important issues around the world.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the two-day long G-20 summit in Bali and hold several bilateral meetings with other world leaders. Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra said PM Modi will also utilise the opportunity of his presence at the Bali summit to invite leaders to India's G20 summit.
