New Delhi: India will send three person to six thousand meter below sea level for exploration of resources like minerals under Samudrayaan Mission. Earth Science Minister Dr Jitendra Singh said, a vehicle called MATSYA 6000 will carry three persons and this mission is expected to be realized in next three years.
He said, the vehicle is being designed and developed by the National Institute of Ocean Technology, Chennai. It has an endurance of 12 hours under normal operation and 96 hours in case of emergency for human safety. Dr. Singh said, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had referred
to Deep Sea Mission in his Independence Day address in two consecutive years in 2021 and 2022.
The Centre had approved the Deep Ocean Mission at a total budget of over four thousand crore rupees for five years. India has a unique maritime position, over seven thousand kilometer long coastline, which is home to nine coastal states and one thousand 382 islands.
The mission aims to boost the central government’s vision of New India that highlights the blue economy as one of the ten core dimensions of growth.
