The Health Ministry yesterday said 13 states have more than 1 lakh active COVID-19 cases each and 26 states and UTs have a positivity rate of over 15 per cent. Briefing the media in New Delhi yesterday, Health Ministry officials said, Goa has the maximum case positivity rate of 49.6 per cent and Maharashtra's positivity rate is 22.5 per cent. The national positivity rate is around 21 per cent.
Decline in new cases and deaths is also being observed in the last couple of days. Country has registered over three lakh 29 thousand new COVID cases in the last 24 hours as compared to three lakh 66 thousand Covid cases yesterday.
Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Odisha, Punjab, Assam, Jammu and Kashmir, Goa, Himachal Pradesh,
Puducherry, Manipur, Meghalaya, Tripura, Nagaland, and Arunachal Pradesh are showing continued increasing trend in daily new cases. Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, Telangana, Chandigarh, Ladakh, Daman and Diu, Lakshadweep and Andaman and Nicobar Islands are showing continuous decrease in cases. Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Rajasthan, Haryana, Chhattisgarh, Bihar and Gujarat are also showing continuous decrease in daily new cases.
Talking to the media, ICMR DG Dr. Balram Bhargava said, on 30th April, a total of 19,45,299 tests were conducted, which is the highest ever in the world. He said, Rapid Antigen Tests will be allowed at all government and private health facilities and no accreditation will be required.
