Imagine you taking a flight and your co passenger turning violent while the flight on airborne. So much so he had to be overpowered and tied down to his seat. Something similar happened with passengers of an Indigo flight from Dubai to New Delhi.
On Tuesday little after the flight 6E 024 took off from Dubai airport, a passenger turned unruly. Sources say he was not only refusing to follow the in flight security rules but behaving violent. He even allegedly threatened the crew. At this point the cabin crew contacted the chief pilot of 6E 024 who is the commander in chief who instructed the passenger to be overpowered. In an unprecedented situation he was tied down to his seat.
Upon arrival at Indira Gandhi international airport in New Delhi, CISF detained the man who was later handed over to Delhi Police that is investigating the matter.
Delhi Police sources suggest an alcohol test has also been taken of the passenger to ascertain whether he has been under influence of alcohol or not. The report is awaited.
But such instances on in-flight ruckus are not new. In December last year, a Jet Airways Mumbai-Bhopal flight was delayed after a group of passengers, who were part of a marriage party virtually hijacked the flight. The flight was reportedly over-booked due to a technical glitch. The same month in an individual flight a passenger started behaving crazy under influence of alcohol. And earlier in September, religious leader Asaram Bapu's devotees created ruckus aboard a Jet Airways Jodhpur-Delhi flight, refusing to be seated and shouting slogans throughout the length of the flight.
But this time around the passenger had to be tied down to ensure safety of others.
