The central government on Monday extended the tenure of Intelligence Bureau (IB) chief Tapan Kumar Deka by one more year until June 2025.

A 1998-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer from the Himachal Pradesh cadre, Tapan Kumar Deka, has been serving diligently as the director of the

IB.

The decision to extend Deka's tenure was taken while keeping his two-year performance as IB director in mind.

Recently, after taking the oath as Prime Minister for the record third term, Narendra Modi retained all members of his security-related team, including NSA Ajit Doval.
