In Manipur, human rights activist Irom Sharmila has announced the formation of her political party with the promise to fight for justice and peace among the people. Speaking to mediapersons in Imphal yesterday, she said that she is entering electoral battle to fight against injustice after ending her nearly 16-year
long hunger strike.
She said that name of the new political party will be Peoples Resurgence and Justice Alliance. Miss Sharmila further said her party will contest for at least 20 seats in the coming state Assembly election to be held early next year. She also named candidates for some seats.
