Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao on Wednesday instructed the officials to complete the works of the Devadula lift irrigation project before June 2017. The Minister held a review meeting on the progress of the project works with the officials.
He enquired about the utilisation of funds allocated by the Centre under Pradhana Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana for the irrigation scheme and directed the officials to complete the land acquisition in a time-bound manner and prepare an action plan to take up the works at the division level.
The
government has so far acquired 3,121 acres of the required 9,199 acres. He directed the officials to identify the bottlenecks in implementation of the project and come out with appropriate solutions.
Harish Rao said he would also visit the Sri Ram Sagar Project (SRSP) site to ascertain the progress in the second-phase of works, after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the state on August 7. Under the SRSP second phase, 1058 acres of land is yet to be acquired. The total requirement of land for the project is 2490 acres.
