Thiruvananthapuram: Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, today said that through the Jal Jeevan Mission, drinking water was brought to 60 percent of the households in the country.

The Minister who was on a day-long visit to Kerala was addressing the media in Thiruvananthapuram. Mr. Shekhawat said that the distribution of drinking water in Kerala is below the national average.

Minister had a discussion with Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan regarding the speedy completion of the project in the State. Mr. Shekhawat said that the Jal Jeevan mission aims to bring clean drinking water to all by 2024.

The State Water Resources Minister Roshi Augustine, Chief Secretary Dr. V. P. Joy, and Central, and state officials participated in the discussion.
