The 270-km long Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH 44), the only all weather surface link that connects Kashmir valley with rest of the country has been closed for the vehicular traffic following heavy overnight rains. The vehicular traffic on the National Highway has been temporarily suspended due to multiple landslides triggered by heavy rains in Ramban Sector. Amarnath Yatra which started from Yatri Bhawan, Bhagwati Nagar Jammu early this morning has been stopped at different



places due to multiple landslides and closure of National Highway. The work of clearing the National Highway has begun and debris clearance operations are continuing on a war footing.

However, the historic Mughal road, the alternate National Highway connecting the twin Border districts of Rajouri and Poonch of Jammu region with the Shopian district of Kashmir valley, is clear for the vehicular traffic.
