The Bombay High Court on Monday granted medical bail to Jet Airways founder Naresh Goyal, who was arrested by the ED in a money laundering case. Goyal, 75, had sought bail to undergo treatment for cancer.

A single bench of Justice NJ Jamadar had granted interim medical bail to Goyal to undergo cancer treatment on May 6 for two months. It was later extended by four weeks and then again for two months. The interim order was made permanent on

Monday.

Goyal's lawyers Aabad Ponda and Ameet Naik submitted an application asserting that Goyal's wife had passed away on May 16 earlier this year after battling terminal cancer and his own treatment was to start. Goyal's lawyers sought an extension of interim bail.

Goyal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in September 2023. He was accused of siphoning off loans worth Rs 538.62 crore that Canara Bank had sanctioned for Jet Airways.
