In Jharkhand, campaigning for the first phase of Assembly elections has ended. 13 constituencies spread over six districts, including Palamu, Gumla, Garhwa and Latehar, will go to polls in this phase on Saturday.
Leaders of all political parties made last-ditch efforts to woo the voters. BJP President Amit Shah addressed election meetings in Chatra and Garhwa today. Chief Minister Raghubar Das, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha Executive President Hemant Soren, Jharkhand Vikas Morcha President Babulal Marandi and All Jharkhand Students Union Chief Sudesh
Kumar Mahto also addressed rallies in different constituencies.
Today was also the last day for withdrawal of candidature for the third phase. 314 candidates are in the fray after scrutiny of nomination papers. Seventeen constituencies spread over eight districts, including Ranchi, Koderma and Hazaribagh, will go to polls in this phase on 12th December.
The 81-member Jharkhand Assembly will go to the polls in five phases between 30th of November and the 20th of December. Counting of votes will be held on 23rd of December.
