Jharkhand's Minority Welfare Minister Haji Hussain Ansari has passed away after recovering from coronavirus. He was 73 and had recovered on Friday.

He had tested positive for coronavirus September 26 when he had also tweeted, "I got my test done after initial symptoms of Covid-19 and my corona report came back positive. I am currently admit in Medanta Hospital, Ranchi. I will come back soon with the prayers of all of you."

After treatment, he had tested negative from the virus on Friday. He had announced on Twitter, "Dear friends, I am in Ranchi's Medanta Hospital, treatment is going on under the supervision of skilled and expert doctors. My health is improving. Ignore



any type of rumor. With the blessings of all of you, I will return soon among you all". 

Ansari was a diabetic and a known patient of hypertension, sources said. As per the hospital authorities, he did not die of coronavirus.

A spokesperson of the Medanta Hospital said that Ansari tested negative for Covid-19 on Friday, which meant that he had recovered.

"Therefore, he did not die of Covid-19. He died this evening due to a cardiac arrest," the spokesperson said.

Ansari's family said that he recently underwent heart surgery.

Ansari was a four-time MLA from the Madhupur assembly segment in Deoghar.
