The Jammu and Kashmir administration revoked the Public Safety Act (PSA) against 26 individuals on Friday. These people were detained and booked under the PSA after 5th August 2019.
The Centre revoked special status of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir and bifurcated it into two Union Territories last year.
They are likely to be released today as some of them are lodged in prisons located outside the union
territory.
Three-time Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah was also slapped with the PSA in September. His son Omar Abdullah and former CM Mehbooba Mufti have been kept under preventive detention.
Earlier in the day on Friday, the Supreme Court said subject to some restrictions, Internet access is a fundamental right under Article 19 of the Constitution. It asked the Jammu and Kashmir administration to review all curbs in the union territory within a week.
