Jammu and Kashmir government has decided to develop 5 tourist villages within Dal Lake in Srinagar. These villages are Kachri Mohalla, Sofi Mohalla, Tinda Mohallah, Akhoon Mohalla, and Vegetable market. These villages will have all basic facilities for inhabitants as well as tourists and local visitors. They will also provide homestay facilities to tourists.

Chief Secretary Arun Kumar Mehta conducted an extensive tour of



interiors of Srinagar’s Dal Lake and took stock of various ongoing works for the development of tourist villages. 

The Chief Secretary was accompanied by GOC 15 Corps, Lt. General DP Pandey, and other senior officials of J&K government. Chief Secretary asked officers to prepare a comprehensive plan for holistic development of hamlets in Dal Lake to create tourist villages.
