Jammu and Kashmir government has asked opposition leaders not to visit the Valley as it will disturb the gradual restoration of peace and normal life. In a statement issued last night, it also said the visit by politicians will be in violation of restrictions that have been imposed in many areas of the Valley. The statement comes close on the heels of a proposed visit by opposition leaders today to assess situation in the Kashmir Valley.

The statement said that at a time when the government is trying to protect the people of the state from the threat of cross-border terrorism and attacks by terrorists and separatists and gradually trying to restore public order by controlling miscreants and mischief-mongers, attempts should not be made by political leaders to disturb the gradual restoration of normal life.

Meanwhile, over 200 accounts have been suspended by Twitter which were spreading

fake narratives on Jammu and Kashmir situation in social media during the last week. Majority of these accounts were being operated from Pakistan. Recently, there has been a flood of fake news about peoples sufferings in the Kashmir valley. A careful analysis shows that such news stories are nothing but a farce and far from reality.

Old videos and photos are being circulated in social media which have been claimed as recent pictures of Jammu and Kashmir. This is again a fake news. A couple of Pakistani media channels shared a ten-year old photo and made false claims.

Highly placed official sources said, only those people who supported terrorism in valley are upset with the government's move to remove Article 370. Hence, rumour-mongers and fake news factories aided and abetted by forces inimical to India must be shunned, they added.
