Jammu: In a great relief to commuters, the historical T5 tunnel of the four-lane road project at Panthyal between Ramban and Banihal in J&K has been thrown open for traffic yesterday.
The tunnel is going to help commuters to bypass the most vulnerable spots on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH44) in Panthayal.
The approach road to the tunnel along other allied works was completed
successfully on Wednesday and the tunnel has been thrown open for traffic on Thursday.
However, the work on Jaiswal Bridge and the double-lane of Ramban Flyover and the Banihal Bypass is expected to be completed by the end of this month and the 15th of next month respectively.
Opening this tunnel will put an end to the threat of shooting stones.
