Union Shipping Minister Nitin Gadkari has said that the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust will purchase Air India's iconic 23-storey building at Nariman Point in Mumbai. Speaking at the executive meeting of Federation of PTI Employees' Unions in Mumbai, Mr. Gadkari said the valuation of the building will be worked out between the Ministries of Civil Aviation
and Shipping.
He added that the building would continue to be called 'Air India' with the carrier's emblem, which is visible from the Arabian Sea. With the purpose that government should retain the landmark building, Mr. Gadkari said the space may be rent out to government offices later.
