Utar Pradesh Police has detained cleric Anwar-ul-Haq from Bijnaur in connection with the murder of Hindu Samaj Party leader Kamlesh.
According to reports, cleric Anwar-ul-Haq has been kept at an undisclosed place and is being interrogated over his role in Kamlesh Tiwari's murder.
Kamlesh Tiwari was stabbed multiple times and his throat was slit at his home in Lucknow on Friday.
Earlier, Kamlesh Tiwari's wife had filed a complaint on the basis of which an FIR was registered against two clerics.
She further alleged, "In 2016, Mohammed Mufti Naeem Kazmi and Imam Maulana Anwar-ul-Haq had
announced a cash reward of Rs 1.5 crore on my husband's head. They have killed my husband by hatching a conspiracy."
Gujarat ATS (Anti-Terrorism Squad) detained three people from Surat late Friday in connection with Hindu Samaj Party leader Kamlesh Tiwari murder case.
As per the reports, five people were involved in the crime. Three stayed in Surat and two went to Uttar Pradesh to murder Tiwari.
The three detained from Surat are being taken to Ahmedabad.
The matter is being investigated on the basis on CCTV footage, mobile network used in the murder and Surat's mobile network.
According to the latest update, the conspiracy was hatched in Surat.
The family of Hindu Samaj Party leader Kamlesh Tiwari, who was murdered at his home in Lucknow, said they won't cremate his body till Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath pays them a visit.
