Kannada film star Chiranjeevi Sarja died earlier today in Bengaluru. He was 39.
According to news reports, the actor was facing breathing issues before being admitted to a hospital in Bengaluru. However, the actor suffered a heart attack shortly after and died in the hospital.
Sarja made his film debut in the Kannada industry with ‘Vayuputra’ in 2009, where he played the lead. He went on to act in more than 20 movies, including ‘Chirru’, ‘Chandralekha’, ‘Aatagara’, ‘Bharjari’, ‘Seizer’, ‘Amma I Love You’, ‘Sinnga’, and more.
He was last featured in the film titled ‘Shivarjuna’. Prior to this, he worked as an assistant director with his uncle Arjun Sarja for nearly four years.
Sarja got married to actress Meghana Raj in May 2018.
According to a statement to The Hindu by doctor Dr G. Govindaiah Yateesh, unit head, Apollo Speciality Hospital, Jayanagar, the actor was brought in on Saturday.
"The family members who wheeled him into the hospital said the patient had suffered convulsions on Saturday and they had consulted a doctor. However, it worsened and he suffered breathlessness in his sleep Saturday
night. He was brought in an unresponsive state to the hospital at 2:18 p.m. All efforts to resuscitate him failed and he was declared dead."
CELEBS MOURN SARJA
Many celebrities, including the Chief Minister of the Indian state of Karnataka, mourned the actor.
Actor Allu Sirish posted: "Shocked at the sudden demise of Kannada actor Chiranjeevi Sarja. He's just 39 years old. My condolences to the Sarja family. Rest in peace, Chiru."
TV actress Swetha Changappa posted on Instagram: "Chiranjeevi Sarja...RIP Well known actor of our sandalwood industry. We have lost him today.... Seriously. I'm still in the shock. Wat is happening in 2020. Very very sad. May his soul rest in peace. May god give strength to his family."
Cricketer Veda Krishnamurthy tweeted: "Beyond shocked to hear about the sudden demise of #ChiranjeeviSarja. He was such a kind person. My heartfelt condolences to his family & friends. May his soul RIP."
Anil Kumble also took to social media to mourn the loss, posting: "Deeply saddened and shocked to hear the passing away of #ChiranjeeviSarja. A young talent gone too soon. Condolences to his family and friends."
