The Karnataka unit of BJP held a statewide protest yesterday over the waqf land eviction notices issued to the farmers in Vijayapura district. Speaking to media persons in Hubballi today, former Chief Minister and MP Basavaraj Bommai questioned Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for his decision yesterday to withdraw the eviction notices.

Mr Bommai asked why the notices are now being withdrawn if the Government did

nothing wrong. He blamed Housing and Minorities Welfare Minister Zameer Ahmed for exerting pressure on the district administration to issue notices on lands claimed by Waqf.

Yesterday, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had issued directions to the revenue officials to immediately withdraw the notices and had urged to BJP not to politicise the issue.
