The Karnataka State Cabinet has decided to hold a legislative session from February 12 to 23rd in Bengaluru and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will present the state budget on February 16th. Briefing the media persons after the Cabinet meeting, the Law and Parliamentary Affairs minister H K Patil informed that the session will begin with the Governor Thawaarchand Gehlot addressing jointly the members of both upper and lower House.
In a significant development, the Cabinet has taken another decision to implement the Justice
Sadashiva Commission report that has recommendations on internal reservation. The Commission had looked into the demand for internal reservation of the 101 castes categorized as Scheduled Castes. It had classified SCs into four groups namely Right, Left, Touchables and Other Scheduled Castes and recommended equitable distribution of reservation among them. The Cabinet took a decision to refer the Commission recommendations to the Central Government for its implementation by amending the Constitution.
