Karnataka Deputy Chief  Minister D K Shivakumar has instructed the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike officials to drain out stagnant water from roads and residential areas in Bengaluru. He visited the city areas that faced the onslaught of rains on Sunday night in the city. In Yogeshwar Nagar, Nagawara junction, Silk Board and Jayadeva the minister monitored the efforts to drain out rainwater. He issued directions to immediately set right the overflowing drainage and water-logged underpass. The construction debris piled up near a project site was asked to be removed



immediately. 

The officials were asked to take up cleaning of drainage and removal of blockage in the culverts. The Corporation officials were pulled up for neglecting storm water drains, roadside drains and potholes.  He told media persons that potholes are major problems in the smooth passage of vehicles which will be dealt with immediately. Shivakumar visited a private hospital where four persons injured by the fallen tree are taking treatment. He assured them that the treatment cost would be borne by the Municipal Corporation.
