The public bus service remains suspended between Karnataka and Maharashtra after an assault on buses across the border. Karnataka Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy has said that those accused of assaulting a Karnataka public transport conductor will be charged under the Goonda Act. He was speaking to media persons after visiting the victim undergoing treatment in Belagavi in North Karnataka.
The minister regretted that the conductor was assaulted
for not speaking in Marathi at the Sulebhavi bus stand bordering Maharashtra. Saying that the conductor is still under trauma. He added that the Belagavi Police Commissioner has been instructed to take action against Maharashtra Ekikaran Samithi leaders for justifying the assault on the conductor. He informed me that the bus services to Maharashtra will remain suspended till the situation between the two states normalises.
