The Karnataka Assembly on Thursday saw unruly scenes as a resolution was passed against the central government allegedly stalling funds to the states.
The resolution was moved by the Congress government in the Assembly against the Centre not giving Karnataka its tax revenue share. The Congress leaders had also staged a protest in Delhi demanding the release of funds earlier this month.
The resolution stated: "Our Constitution enshrines a stable federal system in the Indian democratic system. Every state of India is a part of the national economy, the Indian administrative system has always followed the prudent stance that the economy of all the states is on the path of development and should be on the basis of equal and equal distribution for the development of all the states."
"But after coming to power of Bharatiya Janata Party government led by NDA at the
Center for the last one decade, many instances of bias in every dimension of financial distribution in providing grants recommended by finance commissions, giving central share as per criteria for drought relief, allocating development projects without any discrimination have come to the attention of the people of Karnataka," the resolution read.
As soon as the resolution was passed, BJP MLAs gathered inside the well of the House and started sloganeering.
Another resolution was passed by the Assembly in support of the farmers demanding the Minimum Support Price (MSP) on all crops.
"This House unanimously resolves to urge the Central Government to frame legislation regarding fixation of minimum support price for all crops of farmers. This House insists on fulfilling their most justifiable demands without resorting to conflict with the farmers," the resolution read.
