Seven persons were killed and 12 injured in a road accident involving two auto rickshaws and a lorry near Vaddarahalli in the Vijayanagar district of Karnataka yesterday afternoon. The two autorickshaws were taking 19 tourists to the Tungabhadra dam when the lorry coming from the opposite direction hit them head-on. The IGP of police B S Lokesh informed that the lorry driver has been arrested.

complaint is lodged in the Hospete rural police station. The injured were admitted to Hospete government hospital and in Ballary VIMS hospital. The Ballary district incharge minister Nagendra has said that the Chief Minister has announced compensation of two lakh rupees each to the family of the diseased persons and 50,000 rupees to those injured in the accident.
