In Jammu & Kashmir, fresh snowfall started in various regions of the Kashmir region this afternoon. The winter season’s first snowfall has occurred in Srinagar. Additionally, fresh snowfall has been reported from Shopian, Kulgam, Kokernag, Pahalgam, and some areas in South Kashmir. Traffic movement has been suspended on the Mughal Road due to heavy snowfall.
The road connects Rajouri and Poonch districts from Shopian. Snowfall has been reported in Gulmarg (north Kashmir), far-flung areas of Baramulla, and Sonamarg (Ganderbal, Central Kashmir). Central Kashmir’s Budgam
district, including Tosamaidan, Dodhpathri, and Yousmarg, has also seen fresh snowfall.
In north Kashmir’s Bandipora district, snowfall has caused the closure of the Bandipora-Gurez Road. In the frontier district of Kupwara, there are no reports of snowfall in the town as of the filing of this report.
Meteorological officials said light rainfall is likely to occur over the plains of Jammu and light snow over the higher reaches of the Chenab Valley and Pir Panjal range in the Jammu Division.
