During the holy month of Muharram, the Kashmiri Shia community is boycotting Israeli linked water brands including Kinley and Aquafina. Instead, they are promoting local alternatives. Water holds special significance during Muharram. Each year in Kashmir, the Shia community distributes water on roads throughout the region to commemorate Ashura.

Abbas Razvi, on Facebook wrote, “Kindly boycott Kinley and Aquafina water bottles,…Instead buy Snow drop , Bringi , Treish, 7 springs, Pure MAX and Tulian.”
He added that the Shia community is buying water bottles in lakhs of rupees in Muharam. “We are doing this because these brands are Israel-linked brands. We buy water in large quantities in Muharram and we don’t want to contribute to what’s happening in Palestine,” said Hassnain Riza.
