In Kerala, the new LDF Government-led by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will be sworn tomorrow with a freshly constituted 21-member Cabinet.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and his team will be administered oath by Governor Arif Mohammed Khan at 3 pm on Thursday at the Central Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. The ceremony will be limited to 500 people adhering to strict COVID guidelines.
The new Cabinet will have 12 Ministers from the CPI (M), four from the CPI and one each from the Kerala Congress (M), Janata Dal (S) and NCP. Four single legislator parties will share two Cabinet posts with each party getting a
term of two and a half years each.
Mr. Pinarayi Vijayan will continue for the second consecutive term as Chief Minister of Kerala. Except for the Chief Minister, no sitting Ministers are included in the new Cabinet. The omission of the renowned, present State Health Minister K. K Shailaja who had won the elections with a historical majority of over 60,000 votes, has caused widespread criticisms from the public.
However, she has been appointed as the Party Whip by the CPI(M) State Committee. The party has selected M. B. Rajesh to be the Speaker.
