The Kerala government has declared a two-day mourning today and tomorrow, following the demise of noted Malayalam writer M T Vasudevan Nair, who passed away in Kozhikode last night. The cabinet meeting scheduled for today and other official functions have been postponed.
Governor Arif Mohammed Khan condoled the death of Jnanapith laureate M T Vasudevan Nair. In a social media post, he said MT’s passing away marks a profound loss for both Malayalam
and Indian literature.
State Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan termed the demise of the noted writer as a big loss for the state, especially for Malayalam literature. He said MT’s writings reflected the complexities and beauty of the life in the state.
Meanwhile, the funeral of MT will take place at the Mavoor Road crematorium in Kozhikode this evening.
